Here’s an all-natural product to help keep blisters at bay13 Sep 2017

When it comes to choosing footwear many Australians choose fashion over fit – and the consequences can be extremely painful.
Most women are faced with a plethora of footwear options for work, play and even gym.
And finding the ultimate designer lace-up, winter boot, summer wedge, kitten heel, office pump, practical flat, sandal or runner can prove no easy feat.
A US study found that nine out of 10 women are wearing shoes that are too small, often resulting in calluses, blisters, bunions, corns, and other problems.
According to the Australian Podiatry Association, footwear materials and shape are the biggest factors associated with shoe discomfort.
But now an Australian company has developed a new all-natural product designed to combat shoe chaffing.
Blister Balm is housed in a convenient travel-friendly stick that fits snuggly into your pocket or handbag.
It is ideal for men, women and children alike – and can provide instant relief for chaffed feet.
What are blisters?
Blisters are bubbles that pop up when fluid collects in pockets under the top layer of your skin.
They can be filled with pus, blood, or the clear, watery part of your blood called serum. Most are shaped like circles.
Depending on the cause, your blister could itch or hurt a lot or a little. They can appear as a single bubble or in clusters.
Blister Balm’s unique waxy formulation is applied to high-friction areas of the feet, such as toes, heels, instep and outstep, to ease discomfort, protect from infection and repair skin.
It is best used as a preventative measure before or as soon as skin sensitivity occurs.
Blister Balm is made from bees wax, mango butter and isopropyl myristate.
Beeswax carries antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that are essential in fighting chapped skin and bacterial infections that tend to affect us most in the dry, winter months. It forms a protective wall by sealing in moisture in skin without smothering and clogging up the pores.
Mango butter is extracted from the shelled fruit kernel of the mango tree, which is a tropical evergreen. This butter is highly emollient, softening and soothing to the skin. Mango butter has protective effects against UV radiation and helps treat skin rash, eczema and insect bites.
Isoproyl Myristate is used in cosmetic products for moisturizing the skin. It is an emollient, which helps to strengthen the natural moisture barrier of the skin, enabling it to remain hydrated by decreasing moisture loss.
These ingredients nourish and hydrate skin while acting as a comfortable intermediary barrier between the shoe and affected area.
How to apply Blister Balm
Blister Balm can be used for spot application to high-friction areas of the feet – toes, heels, in/outstep.
It should not be applied to broken skin.
The balm should be worked in thoroughly and you should ensure your shoes are secure.
